Hakimian Holdings bought property along San Jose Boulevard on Oct. 2 to merge with its neighboring Gates of Olde Mandarin to expand the shopping center with more retail space.

Hakimian Holdings bought the shopping center at 3600 University Blvd W., once called University Center, for $14.425 million. It is anchored by LA Fitness, T.J. Maxx, Bealls Outlet and McDonald’s.

The Gates of Riverside, the multi-story office building could see a two-building expansion following the Downtown Development Review Board’s unanimous approval of new plans.

The company will keep its name for now after being acquired by The Wells Companies.

Jacksonville-based Hakimian Holdings Inc. wants to add two buildings at its riverfront 245 Riverside Ave.

The 136,853-square-foot, six-story structure next to the new Fidelity National Information Services Inc. headquarters is more than 90% occupied.
